The California Community Schools Program is a statewide initiative that brings together schools, families, and communities to create vibrant learning environments that support the holistic development of students. It recognizes that education is not limited to classroom instruction alone but extends to providing comprehensive support services, engaging families, and collaborating with community partners. At GCC we think of a community school as a “whole-child” school improvement strategy.

At GCC, we fully embrace the CCSPP principles, striving to provide an enriched educational experience that goes beyond traditional academics. By adopting a community schools approach, we are committed to:

  1. CCSPP TimelineAcademic Excellence: We prioritize high-quality education, ensuring rigorous academic standards and innovative teaching methods to prepare students for success in college, career, and life.
  2. Integrated Student Supports: We aim to offer a comprehensive range of support services, including health and mental health services, counseling, mentoring, and extracurricular activities, to address the diverse needs of our students and foster their overall well-being.
  3. Family and Community Engagement: We believe that strong partnerships between families, schools, and communities are vital for student success. We actively involve families in their child's education and collaborate with community organizations to provide valuable resources and opportunities.
  4. Collaborative Leadership: We promote shared decision-making and collaboration among school administrators, teachers, staff, families, and community members to drive positive change and continuous improvement within our schools.
  5. Extended Learning Time and Opportunities: We create an extended learning environment that offers enriching experiences beyond regular school hours, such as after-school programs, workshops, and community-based learning opportunities, to enhance students' knowledge, skills, and personal growth.

Through the GCC Community Schools Program, we are dedicated to achieving better student outcomes, fostering healthier neighborhoods, unlocking new economic opportunities, and supporting workforce development. By working together, we can create a thriving educational ecosystem that benefits our entire community.

We invite you to explore our website, attend our community events, and get involved in shaping the future of education through the California Community Schools Program at Gateway Community Charters.
