Gateway Community Charters is committed to promoting the health and safety of students and families by providing information about the dangers of synthetic drugs, including fentanyl. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is often mixed with other substances and can be extremely dangerous, even in very small amounts.
Families are encouraged to learn about the risks associated with fentanyl and other synthetic drugs, including how these substances may appear, the warning signs of drug misuse, and how to talk with young people about substance use prevention.
Additional information and resources about fentanyl awareness and prevention can be found through the California Department of Education and other public health organizations:
• California Department of Education – Youth Fentanyl Prevention Resources
• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – Fentanyl Information
• Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
If you or someone you know may be experiencing a drug-related emergency, call 911 immediately.
Gateway Community Charters encourages families to speak with school staff or healthcare professionals if they have concerns about substance use or need support resources.
