Internships/(Pre)Apprenticeships
Internships are work-based learning experiences that allow students to actively participate in and observe real-world work environments.
As part of the Career Engagement Stage in the work-based learning continuum, internships provide authentic, hands-on opportunities for students engaged in career-focused programs or courses of study.
Through internships, students gain practical experience by performing meaningful tasks, collaborating in teams, contributing to projects, or exploring various departments and job functions.
Internships typically last a minimum of 8 weeks, with longer durations being ideal. They can be paid or unpaid, depending on the nature of the work and other factors. For unpaid internships, students must receive academic credit for their participation. Students may also earn credit for paid internships.
