COMMUNICATION FROM SUPERINTENDENT
GCC Families and Staff,
As both Sacramento and Yolo counties continue to progress toward more in-person operations with the movement to the "Red" tier, the question becomes when we will return to in-person instruction for students. Each of our school sites has been working on reopening plans that include a phased approach to returning to campus. Ultimately, our students' and staff's safety needs and public health guidance will determine the most prudent return date and process. All of our plans start with bringing small groups of students onto campuses to address their specific learning needs and learning loss due to the distance learning model. I want to commend our administrators, teachers, and staff for all the hard work they are doing to prepare for our students' safe return. Thank you for providing feedback to the school sites through the surveys to our families and staff members. Over the next few weeks, you will be receiving communications from your school administrator with the details and timelines for the plans' various phases. I always want to advise everyone to be safe in all your activities and encourage everyone to follow the Sacramento County and Yolo County Public Health Orders. We support Sacramento County's campaign to "Turn Sacramento Orange" by the end of the month.
We ask you to join us by continuing to follow the county's mandates to:
- continue to wear masks in public
- limit or avoid large gatherings
- social distance whenever possible
- washings hands regularly
These practices help keep us and others safe. Please know our sites and staff are eager to be once again face-to-face, serving our students and families as long as all safety precautions and guidance can be met. In closing, I have some great news to share with each of you; yesterday, the GGC was once again chosen and awarded as one of the Best Places To Work in the Sacramento Region! Thank you to all of the staff who make this a great place to work!
As always, please stay safe and have a great weekend.
